The presence of the other team
2010 World Cup has reached the semi-finals stage. It is a good tournament, offering everything that football has to show, and it seems that the best teams are still contenders, which often is not the case.
Pre-tournament heavy favorites are dropping out one after the other (today Argentina, yesterday Brazil, England much before them, and France and Italy way, way before everybody) and mostly for a simple reason: they are self-obsessed teams forgetting that “In a football match, everything is complicated by the presence of the other team.” – something that Jean-Paul Sartre noticed many, many decades ago.

Perhaps it is in books where all moments in time co-exist simultaneously?
Reading W. G.
